Looking for the Red White and Blue?

Having a family get together this 27th day of May, Memorial Day?

Wikipedia has some interesting facts about how this day of honor for lives lost has come about.  Read about it here .

If you are looking to jazz up your home for the Memorial Day and, or upcoming Fourth of July, how about some red, white, and blue? Maybe a new handmade tablecloth and a spiffy new kitchen valance can brighten the atmosphere to a patriotic level.   Or, perhaps a new set of handcrafted placemats and a kitchen valance.

You have to be super careful not to burn your fingers pressing the handmade bias tape for the placemat set.

The woven plaid design fabric is upholstery grade 100% cotton. These items are machine washable; tumble dry; no bleach.

The fringing of the tablecloth is time consuming but I love that “homespun, Grandma’s house”  look.

All these products I have designed and created in a clean environment where no cigarette fumes of any kind exist.   I do not use formal patterns in my home decor designs.  When an idea strikes me for a valance, pillow cover or sham, tablecloth or curtain, my tape measure and scissors are valuable tools that get alot of use.  I get out the fabric, roll it onto my cutting sheet over the table, measure and start cutting.  Then it’s off to the sewing machine to put the pieces together.   Pressing every seam is the key to professional looking products whether they be home decor items or garments.  (I use commercial patterns for modern day garments.)

I have these products and more in other colors and fabrics at my studio on Artfire.  Click the link at the top left to browse all the products there.  Comments are welcome.

Countdown to Mother’s Day Week 10

Mother’s Day is almost here!  The time has flown by since I’ve joined the Twelve Week Countdown to Mother’s Day in Julie of Blue Morning Expressions’ blog post.  Two weeks to go.  This is a blog post showcasing handmade artisans.  Any online artisan can join the group.   The only rule is you must promote the entire group via your blog, or Pinterest, or Wanelo, or the like the following week.  Each item each artisan includes, I like to post to Pinterest and Wanelo in the hopes they will get some views.  Check out all the Mother’s Day Gift ideas for Week 10 here:

In this Week 10 of the post I included a new set of placemats and a new toile curtain set I recently designed and sewed.  Here are the pics:

You can see more pictures of these items and see all the info at my ArtFire Studio.  Click on the link on the right side bar to cruise my studio and see all the new things I’ve added but not posted here.  Yes indeed; I need to improve that situation!  Thanks for checking them out too!

Handmade Ecru Placemats

Image

On Monday July 9 I will be posting a new handmade placemat set to my UniquelyHandmade studio on ArtFire and my UniquelyHandmadeOnly shop on Etsy.  The set of 6 placemats are 14.5″ x 20″ and are 100% crisp cotton similiar to a lightweight denim.  They are machine washable, warm/cool, and tumble dry low.  The ecru background color has embroidered threads of an olive color woven into the fabric.  These placemats are bordered with a 3/4″ self border with machine stitching on both the inside and outside edge of the border.

Watch for this set to appear in my studio and shop tomorrow.  Additional handmade placemats from my collection of fabrics will be appearing in the coming days.  See my studio on ArtFire at: http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/Uniquelyhandmade

Placemats to Compliment the Tablecloths

I’m now offering placemats to compliment my tablecloths at my studio on ArtFire, http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/Uniquelyhandmade, and my shop on Etsy, http://www.etsy.com/shop/UniquelyHandmadeOnly.

At this point they will be on an “As Ordered” basis meaning if they’re ordered I will make and ship them.  On ArtFire I have the Gingham Damask Placemat for sale.  In the item description/info section I state that I will make any placemats to match any of my tablecloths.  A set of 6 placemats is $18.95.  You choose between fringed or hemmed.  Note: some fabrics are not suitable for fringing; some are more suited for fringing rather than hemming.  Contact me and I will suggest the style for the fabric if you like.

Thanks for reading,

Karen.
